What is it?
Using Kirell Energy Systems’ efficient proprietary
technology, low-grade waste heat is now being captured and converted into Green
Electricity. The breakthrough technology of RTR
Global Investments is its ability to very efficiently harness waste heat (down
to 220°F) from virtually any source and
convert this into electricity. Now fully tested and
proven, the simplicity and cost effectiveness of its innovative products have
created a paradigm shift in the electric power industry. Companies can now
be in complete control of their electricity costs.
The RTR Organic Rankine Cycle System
harnesses discarded industrial waste, solar heat or methane gas from landfills
ranging from < 250 to >2000 degrees F. There are currently other products
on the market that are suitable for higher temperature applications, but the
low-grade waste heat market has been largely untapped.
Energy efficiency is low hanging
fruit in the clean energy movement. Using low-grade waste heat to make
electricity essentially creates a free fuel while not using a fossil fuel. In
fact, RTR’s System seeks to
remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, and thus tackle the root cause of
climate change. Companies immediately reduce their electricity
costs while paying nothing for the system or installation and experience
minimal down time. RTR Systems are effective enough
to serve as a primary energy source for potentially endless applications
including chemical, paper, oil, food, coal as well as
nuclear-power plants.
RTR’s reliable, predictable and tested
systems are installed and maintained for each customer. Energy costs from RTR's system are stable even as utility generation,
transmission and distribution charges in the future. The
client enjoys immediate savings in electricity and this reduction is guaranteed
for up to 20 years (depending on application) – all the while
demonstrating environmental leadership by adopting state of the art utility
grade technology.
Where is it?
Currently
the RTR System is currently in the business
development and/or construction phase to save thousands in power costs for
companies such as:
·
Chiala Farms (Morgan Hill, CA), Solar Thermal Parabolic Troughs
or Flat Panel Solar Thermal, Food Processing Plant
·
Federal
Republic at Dixon Landing Landfill (Newby Island), Milpitas, CA; Landfill Flare
burning L.F.G. (methane)
·
Foristar Inc. (Milpitas, CA) Jacket Water and Exhaust heat from Recip Engine or Turbines; Privately Owned Corporation
·
Port
of Stockton (Stockton, CA) Solar Thermal Parabolic Troughs or Flat Panel Solar
Thermal; Federal Property and Port (Economic Re-Development Area)
Systems range in size from 150 kw
to 10 MW’s in capacity and are suitable for a variety
of settings including manufacturing plants, paper mills, hospitals, landfills
as well as endless industrial applications. The multitude of companies that can
benefit from installing the RTR system commonly have
low-grade heat as a by-product. This energy goes to waste. RTR
both sells systems to customers outright or operate its own systems and sell
power.
Why Pioneer Green
Electricity?
While there are many uncertainties related to electrical
power generation in the U.S., it is certain that there will be increasing
pressure to decrease emissions and improve efficiencies to meet growing power
needs in a more sustainable “green” fashion. In addition, large producers of
waste heat such as refineries, smelters, and bakeries are seeing opportunities
to lower their operating costs and improve the bottom line by converting the
heat that is currently being discarded, into electricity.
RTR increases electricity output while also delivering positive
environmental benefits. No new emissions are created yet CO2 per kWh for
utilities is improved and greenhouse gases are removed from the atmosphere.
Because the “fuel” or source of energy for the RTR
technology is either heat generated by the sun or unutilized heat available
currently at the clients' site, there are no fuel costs associated with RTR's Green electricity generating equipment.
RTR is a closed looped system
eliminating environmental effects. Their safe, nonflammable refrigerants
require no special handling and have been approved for use under the
Kyoto and Montreal protocols. Renewable energy and carbon reduction credits are
attainable with most systems.

Mr.
Horn, the founder of RTR, is responsible for
pioneering the RTR technology. Mr. Horn founded H&R Consultants in 1988
as an engineering firm providing consulting services to the high tech
industry. Project designs have varied
among different industries from life sciences and medical automation equipment
to state of the art laser texturing of hard disks for the disk drive industry.
The majority of Mr. Horn’s career has been associated with start up firms and
has led many engineering teams in their efforts bringing products from bench
top design to manufacturable products. Mr. Horn and
his firm hold several product related patents resulting from their years of
product development. An accomplished
project manager and mechanical engineer, Mr. Horn has held high profile
positions at Megatest, Northern Telecom and Becton
